Max integration

Simplygon is integrated into 3DS Max via a utility plug-in. The installer ships with pre-built versions for Max 2015 to 2020 for the 64-bit platform. Please note that Simplygon is not supported on the 32-bit platform. The following sections describe how to install the plug-ins automatically and manually.

Automatic installation

The Simplygon installer has an option to automatically install the Simplygon plug-in for all supported versions of Max. To automatically install the Simplygon plug-in, please tick the Install the Simplygon plug-in to detected 64-bit Max/Maya plug-in folders checkbox after launching the Simplygon SDK 8.x installer.

Manual installation

If a manual installation is preferred the plug-ins can be found in the Documents folder "Documents/Simplygon/8/UI/Max<version>". To manually install the plug-in for in 3DS Max, copy the plug-in (.dlu), the Simplygon Runtime (.dll) and the config file (.config) into the "plug-ins" directory of the 3DS Max installation. This directory defaults to "C:/Program Files/Autodesk/3ds Max <version of Max>/plug-ins".
